More than 200 times the Bible talks about things that please God. Jesus came on earth not only to reconcile us with the Father but also to show us by example how to live a life pleasing to God.
Before Jesus even started his ministry, God affirmed him publicly in Matthew 3:17. “This is my beloved Son, in him I am well pleased.” What did Jesus do that was so pleasing to God you may ask?
He only said what the Father told him to say, he only did what he saw His Father doing, and only went where His Father lead him. (John 5:19 and John 12:49) He hang around the worst kind of sinners and instead of them corrupting him, he transformed them.
As Christians we are supposed to imitate Jesus. Paul expressed this sentiment to the church at Corinth; he told them “Imitate me as I imitate Christ.” (1Corinthian 11:1) Paul went on to say that his goal was to please God not men, to have favor with God and not men (Galatians 1:10).
As part of my faith journey, I purposed in my heart to do just that imitate Jesus so that I can live a life pleasing to God. We find this very promise Philippians 2:13 “For God is working in you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”
We will explore in later posts what are those things that please God and how to walk in them. Until then may The Lord manifest his love, his grace and mercy in your life today and forever.
